At this point I was frustrated - I didn't know how to model form or paint values in a realistic manner and my draftsmanship was not great. So I concentrated on colour and composition.

A few of these are recent (put in this section for continuity) which goes to show how practice without study doesn't lead to any improvement!

 

Everything has come together at the right time (September 2025 onwards) to faciliate study of realist techniques. I have access to models, just down the road, twice a month for a start! So I've taken the decision to improve my work in all areas to achieve a standard I'm happy with; effectively studying for several years and going back to basics. 

 

There are so many resources online and in books I had no idea existed until recently - the democratisation of the internet! It'll take a few years for me to pursue these realist studies with little work to show for my efforts for quite a while but it will be worth it in the long run.
